Find out details about walking buses and actual buses to Welcome 2024 events

Whether you're about to move into student accommodation or have been here a while, it's never to late to familiarise yourself with the local shops, laundrettes and other local facilities. That's what our accommodation hub is for, to make things a little easier for you, to ensure a smooth transition to Uni life and to ensure you have the best possible experience here at Birmingham.

A number of events are taking place at central accommodation locations during Welcome Week. These are open to all students living in university accommodation or partner accommodation.

Walking buses will be provided to get to the following events at the Vale Village:

Wednesday 25^th September – Open Air cinema
Saturday 28^th September – Freshers Finale

You’ll find details below on where to meet to join the Walking bus for each event.

Locations furthest from the events will require an actual bus trip but again we will meet you and show you to the bus stops and make sure you get to the event in good time.

We recognise that students like to choose their own departure times, so you can leave the event at whatever time suits you and make your own way home. If you are uncertain about travelling back to your hall, speak to one of the event staff. Guild Residence Life team and Welcome team staff will be available at each event.

Open Air Cinema

Wednesday 25^th September

Meet at your Hall reception at 7.00pm

Walking Buses:
Battery Park, Jarratt Hall, Oakbrook Park, Metal Works, Bournbrook, Calthrope Court and Pritchatts Park.

Please meet your Welcome Team who will guide you from your hall to the Open-Air cinema at the Vale Village.

Catch The Bus:
Broderick House, Queens Hospital Close and Belgrave View.

Please meet your Welcome Team who will guide you to the nearest bus stop to catch a bus to the Open Air cinema at the Vale Village. If you haven’t registered for a free bus pass the journey will cost £1.

Saturday 28^th September

Meet at your Hall reception at 1:30pm

Travel Pass

Did you know that you can obtain a free four-week travel pass as a new student or a discounted travel pass as a returning student? You may want to get one of these passes before the events. Visit the University’s Sustainable Travel page to find out more about these options.

Pritchatts Park

Prtichatts Park is made up of Ashcroft, Oakley Court, The Spinney and Pritchatts Road Studios. If this is where you’re based, learn all about the local shops and facilities.

We want to ensure that you have the best possible experience living in student accommodation, so we have a dedicated team of students who are here to host a range of activities and entertainment so you can have fun, meet new people and build your community.

Alongside the range of events on offer, we also provide support to help you along the way if you need it to help you thrive in your new home. We have a student team who are here to offer peer-to-peer advice based on their own university experiences, covering everything from homesickness to shared living, so don't hesitate to reach out.
