Application Process

When you’ve selected the role you’d like to apply for please click the ‘Apply Now’ button on the vacancy. This will direct you to our recruitment portal where you will be prompted to complete an application form.

It’s important to complete all questions accurately and to the best of your ability. We do not accept CVs or cover letters alongside the application forms so make sure you let us know your skills and relevant experience within your answers.

We understand you may use AI tools to help you prepare your application. While these tools can be helpful, please ensure everything you share about your experiences, skills, and qualifications is authentic and truly reflects you. Your genuine story and real achievements are what we're most interested in!

Please note that once the closing date and time have passed, we cannot accept any further applications.

After the closing date your application will be anonymised and sent to the hiring panel to be shortlisted against the job description and person specification for the role.

Once shortlisting has been completed, you will be informed of the outcome via email from the Staff Savvy Recruitment Portal.

The outcome will either be that your application was unsuccessful on this occasion or that you have been invited to an interview for the role. If you are invited to an interview, you will be prompted to select your interview timeslot via the recruitment portal.

Your interview gives you the chance to meet the hiring manager and some of the people you might work with, as well as ask any questions you have about the role.

Your interview is normally in person at the Guild but may be online via Teams. For an in-person interview you should arrive at Guild Reception 15 minutes before your stated interview time. Full details will be in your interview invitation.

Before your Interview takes place, we will send you the interview questions and any other relevant information for you to be at your best during your interview.

Our dress code for interviews is smart casual, so please be comfortable but ready for an interview.

How to find us?

If you have been invited to an in-person meeting, you’ll be asked to arrive at the Guild of Students for a specified time. The Guild building is located on the Edgbaston campus and is visible via the campus map. We’re based on Edgbaston Park Road, near the Sports and Fitness Centre.

Please note: there is limited parking on campus which is payable on arrival via RingGo. The University has its own train station on campus which is about a 10-minute walk.

We appreciate you’ll be keen to know the outcome of your interview and we aim to inform all candidates as soon as we can once the hiring panel have made their decisions. You will normally be notified via email if there are any delays.

  • If you are successful, you will be notified via the Staff Savvy Recruitment Portal and offered the role, which you can choose to accept or decline within the portal.

If you accept the role, you will be prompted to create a Staff Savvy account with your details. Please complete this as soon as possible to get your account set up.

Before you can begin working for the Guild, you must provide proof of your right to work in the UK.
