Olivia Bonner

Disabled Students' Officer

Pronouns: She/her

I’m Olivia from Petersfield, in Hampshire. I study Philosophy and am part of the Philosophy Society. I love travelling, beach walks, and spending time with my dog, Dottie. I have volunteered with charities to help the community, my local one being ‘Portsmouth In the Community’, where I was the social media manager, and helped organise a litter pick for the seafront.

What would you like to achieve in your role as an Officer this year?

As the Disabled Student’s Officer for this year, my top priority is creating an environment where every student can thrive.

I’ll champion disability inclusion across campus, working to ensure disabled students are more than just ‘accommodated’.
I want to make sure the voice of disabled students is represented in all Guild policies and decisions.

I’d like to build a supportive community that will bring together disabled and non-disabled students, which will provide an understanding connection within the student body.

I also plan to champion a mentorship programme to connect incoming disabled students with alumni or senior peers, which will help ease the transition into university, ultimately boosting confidence.
