Ronak

Ethnic Minority Students' Officer

Pronouns: He/Him

I’m a second-year Politics and International Relations student at the University of Birmingham, originally from Rajasthan, India’s vibrant desert region. I’m especially passionate about political economy and global diplomacy. I enjoy meaningful conversations that explore diverse cultures and challenge conventional perspectives in politics and society.

What would you like to achieve in your role as an Officer this year?

As an Officer, I aim to create a more inclusive and empowering environment where race, identity, and belonging are recognised as essential to student life. I’ll advocate for stronger support and funding for cultural celebrations like Diwali, Ramadan, and Black History Month, while working closely with societies representing ethnic and faith communities to amplify their impact.

With a deep interest in political economy, I’m also committed to addressing practical issues like fair housing, career accessibility, and entrepreneurship opportunities for ethnic minority students—especially through mentorship and collaboration with initiatives like B-Enterprising and the Careers Network.

I’ll support international students through tailored resources and work to ensure representation in Guild spaces and decisions. Through open conversations, policy advocacy, and community-led action, I want to build a campus where all students feel seen, supported, and empowered to shape their experience.
