What would you like to achieve in your role as an Officer this year?

As part of the liberation slate, my primary goals are to democratise the Guild by collaborating with society presidents and Student Reps, create a monthly town hall, introduce better accountability mechanisms and Guild communication with students about policy, create a social and liberation space, introduce a rent charter to ease the cost of living crisis, and to ensure the University aligns with ethical and international standards by divesting from arms companies.

As the International Officer, given my background, I will work to defend the presence of international students in the UK, to provide a safe space for students despite the increasing tensions. I aim to provide clearer pathways for international employment uniquely crafted for courses, address the cost-of-living problems for international students by addressing rent and food issues, introduce a cultural day, to push for an increase of sanctuary scholarships, and to introduce departmental job newsletters.
