Hi! I’m Max and I’m from Porthcawl in South Wales. I’m currently in my third year, studying Global Environmental Change and Sustainability. I’m also part of the Doctor Who Society, Railway Society, and I take part in Guild Drama. In my spare time, I enjoy baking and watching plays/musicals.

What would you like to achieve in your role as an Officer this year?

I was elected on a manifesto with five key themes: Ethics, Lifestyle, Environment, Community, and Transparency.

Ethics
- Review the Guild’s Ethical, Environmental & Procurement policy and ensure all Guild departments are following it.
- Continue to push the university to divest from unsustainable and unethical organisations.

Lifestyle
- Enhance the availability of quick/takeaway plant-based food options
- Support the reduction of food waste
- Support students in utilising more sustainable travel options.

Environment
- Create a recycling hub at the Guild
- Review the Guild’s use of single-use plastics and takeaway containers
- Ensure university AI guidance includes information on its environmental impacts.

Community
- Expand and maintain the Sustainability and Climate Action Network
- Provide support and guidance to Student Groups to help them be more sustainable
- Develop a “swap hub” at the Guild

Transparency
- Host regular drop-in sessions
- Ensure events are well-advertised
- Polling students for their views on an issue before I make major decisions
