The Policy, Politics and Economics Society is not just for those on the BA PPE course. It is for anyone studying courses related to, or interested in, any of the three disciplines. Our aim is to bring people from different year groups together to support one another academically throughout university, while also socialising outside of academics to ensure all members enjoy a well-rounded university experience.
We run a variety of social events such as “PPE and Pints,” bar crawls, mini golf, balls, and cocktail evenings, as well as academic events. These include debates, collaborations with other UoB societies, a monthly policy newsletter, group study sessions, and our participation in the annual PPE Symposium.
The biggest event of the year for UoB PPE is the PPE Symposium, run in collaboration with the LSE, Warwick, UCL, Exeter and KCL PPE societies. Each year, a different university hosts a networking and careers fair in the morning, followed by expert panel discussions and breakout-room debates on a chosen topic.
We understand the challenges of an interdisciplinary degree and want to share the knowledge gained across year groups. We aim to run regular study sessions—some general and some tailored to specific cohorts—to support the academic side of university and ensure everyone receives the help they need.
For a direct point of contact, you can email ppe@guild.bham.ac.uk or message us on Instagram and Facebook. You can find further information about the society on these pages. We have also created a LinkedIn page for professionals who studied PPE or similar degrees, allowing students to explore potential career paths and connect with alumni-https://www.linkedin.com/company/ppe-society-university-of-birmingham/?viewAsMember=true
Overall, the society aims to support its members and provide opportunities for a fulfilling university experience.
