Friends of Birmingham Nightline is a publicity society that seeks to support the tremendous work done by Birmingham Nightline, a confidential and anonymous listening service for university students. Birmingham Nightline is run entirely by student volunteers who dedicate all their time to keeping the service open and available for those who need it, therefore Friends of Birmingham Nightline has been set up to take on the publicity for the service to ease their workload. We also fundraise for the national Nightline Association, the charity which oversees all of the Nightlines across the UK and Ireland.
We are looking for volunteers who are keen to support an essential service and publicise its work to students across UoB. This includes running social media accounts, collaborating with other societies, creating social media content, organising and hosting publicity and fundraising events, sourcing donations and much more. No matter how long you have been at uni or what degree you do, there is a place for you with us! We are also fully committed to equity, diversity and inclusion throughout our work and we wholeheartedly encourage marginalised groups to volunteer with us.
We also strive to provide our volunteers with the enjoyable social aspects of a society without any potential pressures to behave in certain ways. Our socials are both in-person and virtual to ensure maximum accessibility, and we aim to make every social a comfortable space for drinkers and non-drinkers alike.
If you would like to volunteer with us and have not already been in touch, please drop us an email at friendsofnightline@guild.bham.ac.uk, join our public Facebook group ('Friends of Birmingham Nightline'), or purchase your free membership here!
