Russian Speaking Society

Our society aims to help UoB Russian-speaking students adapt comfortably to the university system. We understand that every person needs people with a similar language and culture in their environment, especially freshers who may be afraid to remain unheard due to possible language barriers. Our group creates an atmosphere where all Russian-speaking students can find support and make new friends due to gatherings we organise together. The society regularly holds recreation-type events at cafes, pubs, bowling, cinemas, and parties to celebrate holidays. This provides our community a good opportunity to get to know each other better and relax after studies. 

 

We invite all Russian-speaking students to join in, no matter whether you are here only for a term or a full-course programme. If you are a student learning Russian as a foreign language, this is also a good opportunity for you to practice! Our members are always ready to help you integrate. As long as you would like to join a Russian-speaking atmosphere, you are most welcome! We are also open to cooperation and friendship with other national-cultural societies at the University of Birmingham as well as Russian-speaking societies of other UK universities, who we are ready to organise joint events with.
