The student society for the School of Metallurgy and Materials, Nuclear and Materials (NaMS), is a great place to meet like-minded students. However, it isn't limited to those in the school. We offer a diverse mix of socials, sports, and career events, ensuring that your time at uni is always lively and never dull, from freshers' week to final year.
Socials & Nights Out: From casual pub quizzes and bar crawls to huge events such as our iconic Materials Ball, there's always something going on. It's the perfect way to meet new friends, blow off some steam, and make unforgettable memories outside of lectures.
Careers & Industry: We don't just do socials! BUMS also helps you look to the future through industrial visits, careers fairs, and networking with top employers. It's a great way to discover where your degree could take you and to get advice from professionals in the industry.
Sport: Do you love giving it a go? We host weekly campus league games, practice as a unit, and maintain a friendly atmosphere – perfect for both pros and beginners.
Because university is not all about lectures and labs – it's about the people you're going to meet and the experiences you'll have. At NaMS, you'll be part of a supportive community that encourages you, presents opportunities to explore new interests, and provides a fun experience, making your university journey more comfortable and enjoyable.
