Nominations Are Open

The Guild and University of Birmingham are proud to once again present Rep Awards – a chance to celebrate all the hard work and outstanding achievements of students and staff involved within the Student Representation System.

Rep Awards are judged using a set of judging criteria to help inform your nomination. The results of Rep Awards will be announced during our in-person Rep Awards ceremony, so keep an eye out on your emails and on our Guild social media channels for more details!!

There are 15 awards over 7 categories. Please read our FAQs below for more information, or email studentreps@guild.bham.ac.uk.

The awards are:

  • Outstanding Student Rep (UG and PGT combined) – 1 for each of the colleges (5x awards)
  • Outstanding PGR Rep - 1x award
  • Outstanding college rep - 1x award
  • Outstanding school rep -; 1x award

The above awards are all scored using the ‘Outstanding Rep Award’ criteria

  • Outstanding Staff Support – 1x award (can be a team of staff)
  • Outstanding Rep Teamwork – 1 award (can be given to a group of reps)
  • Rep of the Year – 1 award (Not open to nomination –previous Rep of the Month Winners are automatic nominees)

Once nominations have closed, all fully completed nominations will be anonymised by our team and sent to scoring panels who will impartially score nominations against our criteria.

Our winner's panels will select the final winners for each award, using the scores given. We will then get in contact with nominees for further information regarding next steps.

Yes, and we really encourage you to do so! We want to hear from you about the amazing work you’ve been up to as a Rep this year.

Yes of course! We encourage members from across the entire university community to highlight those student Reps and Staff teams who they believe deserve recognition! We even have an award celebrating colleagues in the university who go above and beyond in their support for the Student Rep system!

Rep Awards Categories

Outstanding Student Rep

x5 (one for each college)

NB: This award is open to course-level Student Reps who are on Undergraduate or Postgraduate Taught programmes

This award recognises a Student Representative that has had a positive impact on the students they represent.

Nominees should focus on how the student representative gathered feedback and how they acted on it to create positive change for their fellow students.

Outstanding College Rep

NB: This award is open to College-level Representatives, who are usually elected and attend College or University-wide committees

This award recognises a College Representative that has had a positive impact within the College they represent.

Nominees should focus on how the College Representative gathered feedback from School and Student Representatives and how they acted on this feedback to bring about change.

Outstanding School Rep

NB: This award is open to School-level Representatives, who are usually elected and attend School committees

This award recognises a School Representative that has had a positive impact within the School they represent.

Nominees should focus on how the School Representative gathered feedback from Student Representatives and how they acted on it to bring about or lobby for change.

Outstanding Rep Teamwork

This award recognises the individual or group of reps who have helped implement a change on their course (or wider) as a result of student feedback.

Nominees should focus on the change implemented and how much of an impact the change had to students.

Outstanding Staff Support

This award recognises a member of staff who has gone above and beyond within their role within the Student Representation System.

Nominees should focus on how the staff member has impacted the Student Representation System and how they have helped to make a difference.

Outstanding PGR Rep

NB: This award is open to programme-level PGR Reps who are on Postgraduate Research programmes

Recognises a Postgraduate Researcher Representative that has had a positive impact on the PGRs they represent.

Nominees should focus on how the PGR rep gathered feedback and worked to bring about positive changes for the wider PGR community.

Rep of the Year

This award recognises a Rep that has made a positive impact on the education of the cohort they represent.
