One idea I am particularly excited about is introducing informal beginner-level language exchange sessions, where staff and students could explore and learn new languages directly from native speakers in a friendly and low-pressure setting.
The aim would not be formal teaching or structured courses, but rather creating an enjoyable and affordable opportunity for people to:
- learn basic conversational phrases and greetings,
- gain confidence trying a new language,
- explore different cultures,
- and connect with colleagues and students from different backgrounds.
I feel this could be especially valuable within such an international and multicultural university environment, while also helping foster belonging, inclusion, and cross-cultural interaction in a very informal and approachable way.
