Residence Life Assistants (Events) are a team of student staff who organise and deliver a wide range of small-scale events throughout the academic year to students living in UoB & partner accommodation sites. These events are focused on community building, facilitating positive relationships, supporting students wellbeing and developing shared interest amongst students to ensure they have the best experience possible during their time in accommodation.

In this role you will utilise your experience as a UoB student and the training we provide to organise and deliver events and activities to students living in UoB & partner accommodation. This is a varied role that requires approachable, enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals working using your own initiative and as part of a wider team.

This role offers you a range of opportunities to gain skills and experience including (not exclusively);

  • Planning and delivering a wide range of events and activities in accommodation.
  • Building relationships with students as well as University and accommodation staff.
  • Training and support managing budgets for events.
  • Supporting the running of large scale events such as Open-Air Cinemas, Spring Fling, Spooktacular and much more.

Hours: We ask our team to work 2 admin shifts each per week (admin shifts are approx. 2 hours long) between the hours of 9am & 4pm (during term time) as well as working at their own and other Residence Life Assistants’ events, shifts are also available to support at our large scale events. We also hold monthly team meetings and 1-2-1’s.

Training & compulsory shifts: Please note that Residence Life Assistants (Events) are required to attend compulsory paid training and work on the following dates:

  • · 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th September 2025 – Training
  • · 19th, 20th, 21st September 2025 – Arrivals Weekend
  • · Flexibility to work throughout Welcome Week – w/c 22nd September 2025

Group interviews for this role will take place on Monday 2nd June 2025. Individual interviews will take place on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th June 2025.
